Woman is stabbed to death in Fontana on Nov. 22; suspect is arrested | News



A woman was stabbed to death and another person was injured during an incident in Fontana on Nov. 22, and a suspect has been arrested in connection with the case, according to the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department.

At 11:30 a.m., deputies from the Fontana Sheriff’s Station responded to a stabbing at a residence in the 15100 block of Athol Street in the western unincorporated area of Fontana.

The deputies found Vanessa Gonzalez, 26, and an unidentified 20-year-old person at the location. The victims were both transported to a hospital, where Gonzalez was pronounced deceased.

Detectives from the Sheriff’s Specialized Investigations Division – Homicide Detail also responded and assumed the investigation. Detectives learned the suspect, identified as Alex Zamora, a 20-year-old Riverside resident, arrived at the location, and after an altercation at the home, allegedly stabbed both victims and fled the area.

On Nov. 23 at 2:45 p.m., deputies with the Sheriff’s Specialized Enforcement Division located Zamora at a residence in Riverside and took him into custody. Zamora was booked in at the Central Detention Center, and then later he was transferred to West Valley Detention Center, where he remains in custody without bail on a murder charge.
