Woman found slain at Corona business, man arrested – San Bernardino Sun

A woman was found dead after police conducted a welfare check at a Corona business on Friday, officials said.

Corona police went to 1950 Compton Avenue #105 on Friday afternoon after there were concerns about the welfare of the business owner, a news release from the department said.

When officers entered the building, they found a 41-year-old woman dead with visible injuries. Officers were told a homeless person frequented the location and was known to the victim. It was not immediately clear if the woman was the business owner. The victim’s name was not immediately released.

Officers began a search for James Billingsley, 24, and located him about a mile away from the business. After a brief food chase, Billingsley was detained at the 1200 block of East  Ontario Avenue.

Billingsley was interviewed, arrested and booked into jail on suspicion of murder. He was also booked on suspicion of violating the terms of his parole, an allegation tied to his Friday arrest, and held without bail.
