Volunteers fanned out Saturday, May 28, to plant American flags across Riverside National Cemetery.
The Flag for Every Hero program, a long tradition, aimed to prepare the cemetery for the Memorial Day commemoration set for Monday, May 30.

After a brief ceremony, volunteers placed more than 250,000 flags that will fly throughout the holiday weekend. On Monday, the cemetery will host its first Memorial Day event since 2019 at 11 a.m. in the amphitheater.
Volunteers are sought to help retrieve the flags Tuesday, May 31, at 8 a.m.
