The city of Highland will hold its 26th annual Highland Community Trails Day event 8-11 a.m. Saturday, June 4.
The route selected for this year’s event is City Creek Levee Trail, with the hike starting at Canyon Oaks Park, 6680 Summertrail Place. The route goes north to Highland Avenue and loops to the second segment of the trail. The loop is approximately 2.3 miles.
Hikers can take a side trip from the Canyon Oak Park and visit the Browning Road Trail (approximately two-thirds of a mile) and loop back to the City Creek Levee Trail to finish with a total hike of 2.96 miles.
Along the City Creek Levee Trail Loop, hikers have the option of visiting various integrative sign stations along the trail, which includes signs that show the history of the city, according to a news release.
Participants who post photos of City Creek Levee Trail signs on Instagram the day of the event with the hashtag #CITYCREEKTRAIL have a chance to win prizes, according to the news release.
