Suspect arrested in fatal hit-and-run in Colton Saturday – San Bernardino Sun

A 33-year-old man died early Saturday, Dec. 24, after being struck by a vehicle in an apparent hit-and-run in Colton, police said.

Colton police officers were dispatched to the intersection of West “C” Street and Pennsylvania Avenue around 1:25 a.m. to investigate reports of a man lying in the roadway, Lt. Ray Mendez said in a statement.

The victim, whose name wasn’t released — to ensure next of kin gets notified first — sustained blunt force trauma. The Colton Fire Department pronounced him dead.

Another motorist struck the victim while driving westbound on “C” Street, Mendez said.

The motorist then left the scene, he added.

Police identified that man as Christopher Roman, 19, who would later found in the area and was suspected of being under the influence, Mendez said.

He was booked into the West Valley Detention Center on suspicion of vehicular manslaughter.
