Suspect arrested in 2020 shooting death in Moreno Valley – San Bernardino Sun



A suspect in the shooting death of a Moreno Valley resident two years ago was arrested on Friday, May 6.

The shooting occurred June 7, 2020, outside of an apartment on the 24000 block of Myers Avenue, near Heacock Street and Eucalyptus Avenue, according to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department. The victim died at the scene.

The victim was identified as 43-year-old Kevin Henderson, who lived at the apartment.

The suspect had fled the area before deputies arrived.

On Friday, Darnell Frederick Tate, 32, of Moreno Valley, was arrested on suspicion of being involved in the killing. A sheriff’s statement did not detail his alleged role or what charge or charges he may face in relation to the killing.

The Riverside Police Department also said Friday that investigators received tips that the vehicle and driver involved in the Moreno Valley shooting were also involved in a fatal shooting at Bordwell Park in Riverside in December 2020. Cedric Omarr Dempsey, 32, was the victim in Riverside. The suspect vehicle was described as an early 2000s four-door Cadillac with large aftermarket 10-spoke wheels.

Authorities believe there may be additional suspects involved in both shootings.
