Sprouts to hold July 8 grand opening for Moreno Valley market – San Bernardino Sun

Sprouts Farmers Market will hold a grand opening on Friday, July 8 for its new location in Moreno Valley.

The opening coincides with the Phoenix-based grocery chain’s 20th anniversary on July 11.

The 23,166-square-foot store, at 24101 Hemlock Ave., will feature a variety of locally produced products, including fruits and vegetables from Eco Farms, Oceanside Pole Tomatoes and Kingsburg Orchards.

Last month, the company announced it was looking to hire 100 part-time and full-time workers for the Moreno Valley market to fill openings for department managers, assistant department managers, clerks, cashiers, backup receivers, an administrative coordinator and a scan coordinator, among other positions.

Sprouts didn’t say what the various positions pay, but data from Indeed.com show cashiers average $12.51 an hour, while deli workers average $15.80. Other hourly wages include, bakery managers ($16.01). Assistant managers earn $44,398 a year and department heads are paid $29,503 annually.

California’s current minimum wage is $15 an hour for businesses with 26 or more employees.

Guests who visit the Moreno Valley store over the grand opening weekend will get free samples from various brands at the Vendor Village from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. A complimentary coffee bar with pastries from Sprouts and coffee from Four Sigmatic “Mushroom Mobile” will be available Friday morning from 7:30 to 10:30 a.m.

Daily charcuterie samplings also will be available, and three ice cream socials will take place.

The first 200 shoppers on Friday, July 8 will receive a goodie bag filled with special products and samples, and live music, kids games, crafts and prizes and will be available.

Chef Danny Seo, editor-in-chief of Naturally Magazine, will also be on hand, giving out free, signed hard-cover copies of his cookbook, “Naturally, Delicious Dinners” starting at 5:30 p.m. while supplies last.

Sprouts employs some 31,000 workers and operates about 380 stores in 23 states throughout the U.S.
