San Bernardino senior centers offer variety of activities – San Bernardino Sun

San Bernardino’s two senior centers offer a variety of fitness, cultural and recreational activities.

A Health and Fitness Club, offering stretches and lightweight exercises to start the day, meets 9-10:30 a.m. Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays (except the third Friday of the month) at the Perris Hill Senior Center, 780 E. 21st St., and 9-10:30 a.m. Tuesdays at the Fifth Street Senior Center, 600 W. Fifth St.

Those who enjoy singing or dancing can join the Senior Music Appreciation Club for karaoke singing, and dancing to the music, according to a news release. The club meets 1-2:30 p.m. Tuesdays at the Perris Hill Senior Center and 1-2:30 p.m. Wednesdays at the Fifth Street Senior Center.

Both centers also offer bingo, with each card costing 25 cents for those 50 and older. Bingo games begin at 2 p.m. Wednesdays at the Perris Hill Senior Center and 2 p.m. Thursdays at the Fifth Street Senior Center.

San Bernardino’s Fifth Street Senior Center is also the headquarters for the Inland Empire Senior Games, which open Sept. 23 and run through Oct. 7.

This year’s games include tennis, 5k/10k walk or run, cornhole, billiards, pickleball, swimming and softball.

The Inland Empire Senior Games are sponsored by the city of San Bernardino Parks, Recreation and Community Services Department and the Fontana Community Senior Center.
