San Bernardino man accused of killing woman, 18, in Fontana

Officers arrested a San Bernardino man for the fatal shooting of an 18-year-old woman he knew in a Fontana neighborhood on Monday, Jan. 9, authorities said.

The shooting happened outside a house in the 13700 block of Bennington Court, with the two at the house with other people, Sgt. Christian Surgent said.

During a 911 call shortly before 3:21 a.m. on Monday, there was screaming and yelling and someone could be heard saying, “Call the police,” the sergeant said. The police dispatcher was able to calm down the people and learn someone had been shot.

The woman was shot once in the upper torso and died at the scene.

Police found a gun along with other evidence and arrested Sean Michael Neal, 21, on suspicion of murder, police said. Detectives did not revealed a possible motive.

The coroner’s office had not yet publicly identified the victim; it is unclear what was her city of residence.

Neal was being held without the possibility of bail at the West Valley Detention Center in Rancho Cucamonga, booking records show.
