A Pomona woman and a 15-year-old boy were taken into custody by Montclair police this week on suspicion of fatally stabbing a man in a Montclair neighborhood on Friday, Feb. 4, according to police.
Around 10:45 p.m. on Friday, Montclair police were called to the 9300 block of Exeter Avenue after a resident reported large amounts of blood outside their residence, police said. Josue Baruc Lopez-Martinez, 38, a resident of Montclair, was found unresponsive in the resident’s driveway with an apparent stab wound and later died.
Sandy Ixchop, 30, and the teen boy, both Pomona residents, were arrested on Tuesday on suspicion of killing Lopez-Martinez.
It was unclear Wednesday where the stabbing occurred on the block or what the victim’s relation was with the suspects. Lopez-Martinez had been in a domestic altercation prior to the stabbing, according to Detective Jacob Riedell.
Detectives were investigating another homicide on Friday less than a mile away at the Montclair Place shopping mall. Around 7:30 p.m., a man, 18, was found shot several times in the parking lot near Lazy Dog restaurant. The identity of the victim had not been released Wednesday and suspect descriptions were not available.
The two homicides are unrelated, Riedell said, though the shooting is being investigated as possibly gang-related.
