Police shot and killed a domestic violence suspect on Saturday, June 25 after he produced a gun when they found him in a parking lot, authorities said.
Officers were summoned to the area of Mill and E Streets at 10:05 p.m., where they spoke to a woman who appeared to have been beaten, San Bernardino Police Sgt. Equino Thomas said.
She described a man in his late 20s who was located a short time later in the parking lot of a shopping center near Mill Street and Mt. Vernon Avenue.
Police made contact with the suspect as he was sitting in a vehicle, and at some point he produced a firearm, Thomas said. Officers opened fire, striking the man.
He died at a hospital. His identity was withheld pending the notification of relatives.
Further information was not immediately released.
