Pedestrian dies after being struck by vehicle in Fontana | News



A pedestrian died after being struck by a vehicle in Fontana, according to the Fontana Police Department.

On Sept. 21 at about 7:33 p.m., officers responded to a report of a pedestrian down in the roadway in the area of Citrus Avenue and Arrow Boulevard, near the Pacific Electric Trail, said Public Information Officer Steven Reed.

The 31-year-old man, who had major injuries and was unresponsive, was found lying in the southbound lanes of Citrus. He was transported by AMR to Kaiser Permanente Medical Center, where he was pronounced deceased.

The driver of the vehicle stayed on scene and was cooperative with the investigation.

Witnesses said the pedestrian was attempting to cross the street outside of the crosswalk and was wearing dark colored clothing. The driver said she was traveling northbound on Citrus and did not see the subject attempting to cross the street.

The Fontana P.D. was investigating the incident.
