Pair arrested in 2021 killing of man found shot after Pomona crash – San Bernardino Sun



Two people were arrested in the 2021 death of a man found in a crashed pickup truck with a gunshot wound in Pomona, police announced Wednesday, Feb. 23.

On Feb. 16, Pomona residents Aurelio Camarillo, 44, and Luis Silva, 28, were arrested, the Pomona Police Department said Wednesday, Feb. 23, in a news release. The two were arrested in connection with the investigation into the March 20, 2021, death of 32-year-old Luis Alberto Garcia, police said.

Camarillo was charged with murder, shooting at an occupied vehicle and being a felon in possession of a firearm by the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office, police said. Silva was charged with accessory after the fact, police said.

On the day of the shooting, police responded to a traffic crash at the intersection of Holt Boulevard and Erie Street and found a pickup truck in the roadway. Officers found that the driver, Garcia, had been shot and he was taken to a hospital where he later died from his injuries, police said.

Both suspects confessed their involvement in the murder to detectives, according to the Police Department.

The motive of the shooting and the manner in which the events took place were not immediately clear.
