Ontario’s Zapp Packaging acquired by French company; $8 deal at Lucille’s today helps food banks – San Bernardino Sun


Ontario-based Zapp Packaging has merged with Autajon Group, joining the French company’s packaging division.

Zapp Packaging, a folding carton manufacturer, was established in 2018 under the leadership of founder and CEO Vincent Randazzo. Its products are used in various industries including cosmetics, food, health and beauty, nutraceuticals and consumer packaged goods.

The deal closed Sept. 15 for undisclosed terms.

A representative with Autojon said Zapp Packaging and its 100 employees would continue “business as usual.”

“All current staff will remain and Vincent Randazzo will remain as a consultant,” the representative said.

Autajon Group is an international printing manufacturer of folding cartons, labels, rigid boxes and wine and spirits labels. In addition to its California hub, Autajon, which is based in Montélimar, France, has U.S. divisions in New Hampshire and New Jersey.

The meal includes two chicken wings, corn pudding, a small pumpkin crunch pudding for dessert, lemonade and Chicken Shack socks. The meal is available for dine-in only at all Lucille’s locations from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

During the month of August, Lucille’s said it raised more than $1,905 for local food banks by donating $1 for every orange cream pudding sold. The money should help provide 450 meals to the needy.

Speculative warehouse coming to Highland

Houston-based Lovett Industrial has acquired 13 acres in the Highland submarket to develop a speculative, 285,000-square-foot industrial building, the investment firm’s first project in Southern California.

“The Inland Empire is the most sought-after, highest barrier to entry industrial market in the country, and we are thrilled to announce our first of many projects here,” said Ted Hart, senior managing director of Lovett. “Tenant demand shows no sign of relenting, and we are actively targeting more opportunities across Southern California due to record low vacancy rates and supply – demand dynamics that have led to the highest rent growth in the nation.”

The company said entitlement efforts are underway, with construction beginning in late 2023.Marketing and leasing efforts will be handled by Lee & Associates Ontario. HPA is the lead architect and Thienes Engineering will serve as the projects civil engineer.

Rialto getting industrial building

Scannell Properties, an Indianapolis-based commercial real estate developer, has bought 5.6 acres of industrial-zoned land in Rialto for the development of a 118,450-square-foot industrial building.

The property at 2720 S. Willow Ave. is about 1.4 miles south of Riverside Avenue’s on/off ramp to the 10 freeway. The seller will lease back the property before demolition begins, Scannell said.

This is Scannell Properties’ second Southern California acquisition and its first in the Inland Empire market. In July, Scannell Properties acquired about four acres in Garden Grove for speculative industrial development. Both the Rialto and Garden Grove acquisitions were completed with the help of Voit Real Estate Services. The two land acquisitions total about $50 million.

“We are extremely excited to have closed on our first two industrial development land sites since opening the SoCal office this past January. Both of these sites were acquired off-market, part of a conscious decision to aggressively pursue off-market land acquisition opportunities in the infill SoCal markets,” said Jay Tanjuan, director of development at Scannell Properties.

Coachella partnership will mentor youth eyeing hospitality jobs

The Greater Palm Springs Tourism Foundation and OneFuture Coachella Valley are partnering to help boost the number of students from the Coachella Valley entering careers in hospitality.

The tag-team effort will include providing student scholarships, mentorship and networking opportunities, increasing work experience opportunities, establishing a regional undergraduate internship program in hospitality and engaging regional hospitality executives to provide mentorship.
