Ontario police seek doorbell footage to help solve string of home burglaries – San Bernardino Sun

Ontario police are asking for Ring doorbell footage from residents in a section of town that has recently been hit by a wave of similar home burglaries, authorities announced Wednesday, April 13, as they sought assistance in identifying suspects.

The incidents have impacted homes within the areas of Vineyard to Haven avenues and Riverside Drive to Merrill Street over the last several weeks, police said in a news release. Homes that back up to a street have been victimized more often, authorities said.

While it wasn’t immediately clear how many homes have been impacted or what the exact timeline of the burglaries has been, the homes have typically been targeted when no one was home, police said. The suspects usually entered the homes through either rear windows or doors, authorities said.

“Investigators are asking anyone with either Ring doorbell cameras or other forms of video surveillance to please check their footage frequently to see if anyone has tried to enter their home,” police said in the press release. “Please notify the Ontario Police Department if you have any additional photographs or video of these same suspects on your property.

“Ring doorbell videos can be shared directly through the Ring Neighbors Portal.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact Detective Ryan Ronveaux at 909-408-1748. Information may also be reported anonymously by calling WE-TIP at 78-CRIME or online at www.wetip.com.
