New reggae festival California Vibrations makes its debut in Long Beach – San Bernardino Sun

Reggae, and some hip-hop, too, returned to Long Beach this weekend with a three-day festival made up of more than 50 acts that included a tribute to the genre’s biggest star by three of his sons.

Goldenvoice’s California Vibrations Festival (aka Cali Vibes) kicked off at Marina Green Park in Long Beach Friday, Feb. 4 and runs through Sunday. It is also being livestreamed live via emusiclive.com.

The festival’s lineup includes acts such as The Marley Brothers, who headline Saturday’s show with peformance featuring the music of their late father Bob Marley.

Other artists on the bill for the inaugural edition of the festival are local legends Sublime with Rome and Long Beach Dub Allstars, who will perform Sunday along with hip-hop veterans Wu-Tang Clan.

And while this weekend marked the first California Vibrations Festival, many of the acts have previously performed in Long Beach at Goldenvoice’s previous reggae festival One Love Cali Reggae Festival, which was held for five years and last took place at the Queen Mary in February 2020 just before the pandemic.
