Despite the solemnity of Memorial Day, many people enjoy a cookout during the long weekend and they can find it at a couple of special events.

Knott’s Berry Farm is launching its summer season with a backyard barbecue party featuring special foods and live entertainment.

And Big Bear Lake is the site of Grill & Chill, featuring a Kansas City Barbeque Society-sanctioned competition and a craft beer festival.

New restaurants include Arcade Coffee Roasters in downtown Riverside, an addition to the Roll Up Taquitos chain in Colton, and two tenants in the Montclair Place food court.

Wagyu burgers at Arby’s lead the list of new items in fast food chains.

Finally, we have some sweet and savory recipes, and don’t forget the LA County Fair ends its run on Monday.
