Around 11:40 p.m., the officer had pulled their vehicle over on the freeway, east of Lincoln Avenue, to assist a tow truck, according to the CHP Sgt. Scott Beauchene. While assisting, the driver of a Mazda sedan collided into the officer’s cruiser and came to a stop after crashing into the back of the tow truck.
The driver of the sedan had serious injuries and was taken to a hospital.
