Mother, father, son arrested in 15 Freeway road rage shooting in Lake Elsinore – San Bernardino Sun

A mother, father and son from Homeland were arrested in an investigation into an apparent road-rage shooting on the 15 Freeway in Lake Elsinore last week, the California Highway Patrol announced Wednesday, Jan. 26.

On Tuesday, Jan. 25, investigators served a search warrant at a home on Terand Avenue in Homeland at 12:10 p.m. and arrested 61-year-old Leticia Magdaleno and 54-year-old Jose Luis Magdaleno-Rico, according to the CHP and Riverside County jail records. Magdaleno was determined to be the driver of the suspect car while Magdaleno-Rico was determined to be the passenger, the CHP said.

The couple’s son, 26-year-old Jose Ricardo Magdaleno, was later found and arrested near the West Nuevo Road exit on the 215 Freeway at 2:50 p.m., according to the CHP and county jail records.

The exact roles each suspect may have played in the shooting was not immediately clear.

During the execution of the search warrant, investigators seized multiple weapons, including handguns, rifles, shotguns, ammunition and high-capacity magazines, authorities said.

The father was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder while the mother was arrested on suspicion of harboring and aiding a person after committing a felony, the CHP said. The son was arrested on suspicion of felony evading and carrying a loaded firearm, authorities said.

On Jan. 16, two 19-year-olds were travelling in a 2001 Ford Ranger south on the 15 Freeway near Diamond Drive in Lake Elsinore when it may have accidentally cut off a 2001 Chevrolet Tahoe, the CHP said. The Chevrolet then positioned itself parallel to the Ford and a handgun was pointed at the Ford through the front passenger window of the SUV, followed by muzzle flashes.

Neither occupant of the Ford was injured in the shooting.

Magdaleno-Rico was booked on $1,075,000 bail, while the mother was booked on $500,000 bail, the CHP said. The son was booked on $100,000 bail, authorities said.
