Man wanted for killing wife in Fontana killed in shootout with deputies; daughter injured – San Bernardino Sun

The man wanted for fatally shooting his wife and kidnapping his daughter in Fontana was shot to death and his daughter was wounded in a gun battle with San Bernardino County sheriff’s deputies on the 15 Freeway in Hesperia late Tuesday morning, Sept. 27, the department said.

Anthony John Graziano, 45, was pronounced dead at the scene, the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department said. The girl, 15-year-old Savannah Graziano, was taken to a hospital.

All southbound lanes were closed at Bear Valley Road for the investigation, the California Highway Patrol said.

Authorities received a 911 call Tuesday after someone recognized either Graziano or his car from an Amber Alert that had been issued after Fontana police said the daughter had been kidnapped. Deputies found the white 2017 Nissan Frontier and began pursuing it south on the 15. During the chase, shots were fired out the rear window, a Sheriff’s Department Twitter message said.

Deputies fired back, and the car became disabled near Main Street.

Graziano was suspected of shooting his wife at about 7:30 a.m. Monday near Cypress Elementary School. A witness said he saw a man get out of his car and fire on the woman as she ran from her car. Her name has not been announced.
