A man was shot early Tuesday after he ran towards San Bernardino County sheriff’s deputies with a knife, officials said.
Deputies responded to the 9800 block of Jersey Blvd in Rancho Cucamonga at approximately 3:30 a.m. after a 911 call for help was placed.
When they arrived to the residence, they found that a man had barricaded himself in the home. Deputies spent about an hour negotiating with the man, a spokesperson for the sheriff’s department said in an emailed statement.
The man then ran towards the deputies with a knife and an officer-involved shooting occurred. No deputies were injured and the man was taken to a local hospital to be treated.
No further details were immediately available. The investigation was ongoing.
