A man and a woman died in a crash with a suspected DUI driver on the 10 Freeway in Colton early Saturday, Feb. 5, the California Highway Patrol said.
The crash happened just after 2 a.m. on the freeway east of Pepper Avenue, the CHP said. A Toyota Camry was traveling west on the freeway when it moved to the right and collided with a Nissan Sentra that was stopped on the shoulder of the freeway, authorities said.
The crash caused the Nissan to overturn and careen down an embankment, according to the CHP.
The driver and passenger of the Nissan, a man and a woman who were not immediately identified, were pronounced dead at the scene, authorities said.
The driver of the Toyota was suspected of being under the influence of alcohol at the time of the crash. However, it wasn’t immediately clear if the driver was arrested at the scene or sustained any injuries.
