Man accused of randomly punching woman on Upland bike path arrested – San Bernardino Sun

A man accused of randomly targeting and punching a 67-year-old woman walking her dog on an Upland bike path in April was arrested in Rancho Cucamonga, Upland police announced Thursday, May 12.

The incident happened on April 11 at about 4:45 p.m. when a woman was walking her dog on the Pacific Electric Trail in the area of North 10th Avenue when a man punched her, causing great bodily injury, according to Sgt. Jacob Kirk, spokesman for the Upland Police Department. The attack was described as “unprovoked,” Upland police said.

On Wednesday, May 11, 42-year-old Xavier Spearman was found in the 9000 block of Foothill Boulevard at 8:03 p.m., according to San Bernardino inmate records. Spearman was arrested on suspicion of battery with serious bodily injury and a crime against an elder, jail records indicated.

Spearman was being held on $150,000 bail.
