Violinist Miclen LaiPang, 26, who was a Redlands Bowl Young Artists’ Auditions winner when he was 10 and now lives in Cologne, Germany, will be featured in a concert at 4:30 p.m. June 18 in the Campus Hill Church in Loma Linda.
Other performers in the concert of sacred and classical music are pianist Kimo Smith and harpist Celia Chan Valerio.

The concert is sponsored by the Campus Hill Church and the Calimesa Community Concert Series.
LaiPang, a former resident of Redlands, has studied at the Colburn School in Los Angeles and the Eastman School of Music, among others. He was the teaching assistant of violinist Ida Bieler under whom he completed his Konzertexamen degree from the Robert Schumann Hochschule in Düsseldorf, Germany, according to his website.
He has performed in more than 50 countries and has won many awards, including in the Stradivarius International Violin Competition and Schoenfeld International String Competition and grand prize of the American Fine Arts National Competition.
Kimo Smith is a professor of music at La Sierra University in Riverside and former chairman of the university’s music department. He received a Doctor of Musical Arts degree from UCLA.
Celia Chan Valerio is adjunct professor of harp at California Baptist and La Sierra universities and harp instructor at UCR. She received a Bachelor of Music degree from La Sierra and master’s and doctoral degrees in harp performance from Indiana University.
