Inland Empire Lighthouse for the Blind will hold car show, chili cookoff – San Bernardino Sun



The Inland Empire Lighthouse for the Blind will stage its 19th annual Cruise for Sight car show and 48th annual International Chili Society chili cookoff 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Oct. 8 in Redlands’ Sylvan Park, at Colton Avenue and University Street.

The car show is open to U.S. hot rods, custom cars, antiques, lowriders, foreign cars, motorcycles and classic Schwinn bicycles, according to a news release.

Vehicles enter the park at East High Avenue and Chapel Street.

Car show registration fee is $25 by Sept. 26 and $30 after that and includes a chili-tasting kit. Sponsor picks and best-of-show plaques will be awarded.

Sponsorships are available for $100, and vendor spaces are available for $40. Space is free for those who display but do not sell items.

Contestants in the chili cookoff are members of the International Chili Society. Chili tasting starts at 11 a.m.

Admission for the car show and chili cookoff is free for spectators. The cost for a chili-tasting kit is $10.

The event features raffles, a 50-50 drawing, vendors, food, music and poker walk.

All proceeds benefit Inland Empire Lighthouse for the Blind, an organization offering training for people who are totally blind or legally blind.
