He was the boy king who became arguably the most famous Egyptian pharaoh of all time.
And because he’s still pretty popular more than 3,000 years after his death, a new exhibition that takes people on a digital tour of his life will open sooner than expected.
Tickets go on sale June 28 for “Beyond King Tut: The Immersive Experience,” which will now open Sept. 16 at the Magic Box LA in downtown L.A., according to a release.
Originally slated to open Nov. 4, the exhibition will run through January and will mark the 100-year anniversary of the discovery of Tutankhamun’s burial chamber.
Using archives from the National Geographic Society, the bulk of the exhibition will be made up of digital projections of relics and other related images in nine galleries meant to evoke ancient Egypt and offer a look into King Tut’s burial chamber.
While there will be no actual relics from the real tomb, there will be recreations of items from King Tut’s time, including his sarcophagus, throughout the exhibit.
