Freestyle Festival celebrates its 20th anniversary with old-school tunes in Long Beach – San Bernardino Sun

The Freestyle Festival turns 20 in 2022 and it’s going to be a party with a stacked lineup featuring hip-hop, pop, R&B and disco artists from the ’80s and ’90s including Lisa Lisa, Taylor Dayne, Exposé, Berlin and many more.

Music fans may want to start polishing those dance moves as the single-day festival is set to hit Harry Bridges Memorial Park, adjacent to the Queen Mary in Long Beach, on Aug. 20.

“This is a throwback concert celebrating that old-school music, all those songs you used to listen to when we were kids,” said Bobby Dee, organizer of the long-running festival. “It’s just a fun mix of pop, ‘80s bubblegum stuff and, I’m saying this respectfully, a lot of one-hit wonders.”

The annual event will include three stages. The Pure Freestyle main stage will be led by acts like Lisa Lisa, who is known for the hits “Head to Toe” and “Can You Feel the Beat.” Dance pop artist Taylor Dayne will perform her biggest tracks, “Tell It To My Heart” and “Prove Your Love.” Latin freestyle group Exposé will definitely take fans back to their clubbing days with “Point of No Return” and everyone’s favorite mall-going pop singer, Tiffany, will have everyone signing “I Think We’re Alone Now.”
