Four Inland Empire schools are 2023 California Distinguished Schools – San Bernardino Sun

Four Inland Empire schools have been named among California’s best public elementary schools.

The Riverside and San Bernardino county schools recognized Friday, Jan. 6, include:

    • Eastvale Elementary School, Corona-Norco Unified School District
    • Hidden Trails Elementary School, Chino Valley Unified School District
    • Helendale Elementary School, Excel Academy Charter
    • Inland Leaders Charter, Yucaipa-Calimesa Joint Unified School District

State Superintendent of Public Instruction Tony Thurmond announced that 356 elementary schools were chosen for the 2023 California Distinguished Schools Program. The program is returning from a hiatus after the coronavirus pandemic led to a temporary halt in reporting student data to the state.

“Their innovation and hard work have helped to ensure their students can heal, recover, and thrive — even in the toughest times,” Thurmond said in a news release. “California Distinguished Schools represent examples of not just excellent teaching, learning, and collaboration, but also highly successful, data-driven school efforts ranging from professional development for educators to mental health and social-emotional wellness strategies to address the needs of students and families.”
