Former coach in Rancho Cucamonga pleads guilty to hidden camera in high school bathroom – San Bernardino Sun

A former assistant coach at Los Osos High School pleaded guilty this week to three felony and three misdemeanor counts for possession of child pornography or for a concealed camera to peak through a hole in a girls’ bathroom.

David Riden, 54, was arrested after a staff member at the Rancho Cucamonga campus discovered the hidden camera in August 2021. While out on bail, Riden was arrested again after child pornography was discovered from search warrants executed on his electronic devices.

He worked at Los Osos High from 2015 until he resigned in 2021. He was the boys’ locker-room attendant and an assistant coach for the varsity football team.

The San Bernardino County District Attorney’s Office filed more than two dozen criminal charges last year. Authorities said 21 girls were secretly photographed from Jan. 1, 2015 to Aug. 23, 2021.

In exchange for pleading guilty to six charges, the other 29 were dismissed.

“There is no closure for these victims,” said Mike Scafiddi, an attorney representing two of them. “These are strong women, but they struggle daily with the lifelong affect of what happened.”

An attorney for Riden did not respond to requests for comment.

Multiple civil lawsuits were filed and against Riden and the Chaffey Joint Union High School District. They are pending.

Riden will be held responsible for restitution to victims and required to register as a lifetime sex offender. He is expected to be sentenced to nine years and four months in state prison if a judge accepts the plea agreement, San Bernardino County District Attorney’s Office spokeswoman Jacqueline Rodriguez said.
