Fire displaces 19 residents of Hemet apartment complex – San Bernardino Sun

Flames spread from cars to an apartment building in Hemet on Thursday, May 26, displacing 19 people, the Hemet Fire Department said.

No one was reported injured in the fire at the Greentree Park apartments at 1207 Rosalia Ave., Fire Chief Eddie Sell said.

The fire was reported at 6:40 a.m. Initially, one car was reported to be ablaze, but the flames quickly jumped to a second car and then to the carport and then to the adjacent building, Sell said. In all, five units were damaged and five cars were destroyed.

The American Red Cross provided assistance to the residents. Cal Fire/Riverside County Fire also responded.

The cause of the fire was under investigation, Sell said.
