Explosion at Grand Terrace middle school leads to arrest of 14-year-old student – San Bernardino Sun



An explosion on a middle school campus in Grand Terrace Friday morning left two students with minor injuries, authorities said, and led to the arrest of a 14-year-old boy.

Deputies were called to Terrace Hills Middle School at around 11 a.m. after a loud explosion that created heavy smoke on school grounds. The blast occurred in the middle of the campus, according to Gloria Huerta, a spokesperson for the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department.

What caused the explosion was not immediately available. The explosion was deemed an isolated incident, and there was no property damage at the school, authorities said.

The 14-year-old boy was booked at Central Juvenile Hall.

The sheriff’s Bomb and Arson Division, the State Fire Marshall’s Office, and the Riverside County Sheriff’s Bomb K9 Team were also on scene assisting with the investigation.
