Dia de los Muertos brings Redlands families together to remember loved ones lost – San Bernardino Sun


Redlands celebrated Dia de los Muertos, or Day of the Dead, with music, crafts and more Tuesday, Nov. 1, sharing a cultural tradition and helping the community honor departed loved ones.

Families gathered at A.K. Smiley Public Library for crafts, a children’s Catrina/Calavera costume contest and live music by Los Plateados Mariachi and Pati Luevano.

Later in the evening, the Contemporary Club was scheduled to present an altar viewing, vocal and guitar music by Ana Gonzalez Jorgenson and a performance by St. Mary’s Ballet Folklorico of Redlands.

Dia de los Muertos celebrations continue in Redlands this weekend, noon to 7 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, Nov. 5-6, at the historic Asistencia, 26930 Barton Road.
