Earlier this month, Democrat DeJonaé Shaw announced she would be seeking the AD-50 seat in 2024 after Reyes announced she would instead be seeking the California State Senate’s 29th District seat.

Shaw made an unsuccessful bid for the Second District San Bernardino County Board of Supervisors in the June 7 primary.

“As a nurse and a leader in my union, I’ve worked to help people in San Bernardino County get healthy and get ahead. In the State Assembly, I will continue fighting for opportunities for people here to reach the middle class,” Shaw said in a campaign news release. “I also want to congratulate Eloise Gómez Reyes on her long record of accomplishments for our communities as she continues to serve as Assembly Majority Leader and campaigns to serve as our next State Senator.”

Shaw serves on the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Next Gen Committee, the Democratic Party Central Committee, and the Democratic Club of the Inland Valley.
