Daily high temperature records were both tied and broken throughout Southern California on Super Bowl Sunday, Feb. 13, officials reported.
It was the second consecutive day of record-breaking heat in the region.

A thermometer at UCLA recorded a high of 87 degrees, which broke the previous daily high mark from 2015 by one degree, according to the National Weather Service’s Los Angeles office. Burbank tied its daily record of 88 degrees and LAX met its high water-mark at 85 degrees, officials said.
In Orange County, Anaheim broke its daily high record of 90 from 2015 after exceeding it by one degree, the NWS’ San Diego office reported. Additionally, Anaheim broke a record for its highest daily low temperature, having only dipped down to 60 degrees Sunday, officials said.
A cooldown was expected Monday and this week. The NWS said temperatures in Downtown Los Angeles, which hit 86 degrees Sunday, would top out at 80 on Monday and 65 on Tuesday.
