Calimesa Seventh-day Adventist Church offers series of camp meeting-style services – San Bernardino Sun



The Calimesa Seventh-day Adventist Church invites the community to its annual August series of camp meeting-style services, beginning Aug. 6.

The 11:15 a.m. Saturday services will feature guest speakers and musicians, and the series will also include two Saturday afternoon concerts, according to a news release.

This year’s theme is “Loving People.”

Speakers are Zane Yi, associate dean of the Loma Linda University School of Religion, Aug. 6; Richard Hart, president of Loma Linda University Health and a member of the Calimesa church, Aug. 13; Richard Rice, professor emeritus of the Loma Linda University School of Religion, Aug. 20; and Maury D. Jackson, an associate professor and special assistant to the president for diversity and inclusion at La Sierra University and a faculty member of the Loma Linda University School of Religion, Aug. 27.

Guest vocalists include Marissa Wright, an Oakwood College graduate who is a senior medical student atLoma Linda University; JeJe Noval; and Kellie and Shannon Barnes.

The afternoon concerts on this year’s series will be presented by Arise men’s quartet, Aug. 13, and Christian Edition men’s chorus, Aug. 20. Both are at 4 p.m., and a freewill offering will be taken.

There will also be free vegetarian lunches following the Aug. 6 and Aug. 27 services.
