Blue Mountain Hike in Grand Terrace set for Saturday, rain or shine – San Bernardino Sun

The 16th Annual Blue Mountain Hike is scheduled to begin at 8 a.m. Saturday, March 4, rain or shine, at Palm Avenue and Honey Hill Drive in Grand Terrace.

Hikers must fill out a release form – either online or on-site – before beginning their ascent.

Participants must begin no later than 10:45 a.m. and start down by noon.

Friendly, leashed pets are welcomed.

Parking will be available on the street.

The popular once-a-year hike is 3.24 miles round-trip, with an elevation gain of 1,092 feet.

Mayor Bill Hussey, a hiking enthusiast himself, will lead a prayer for the city, region and all those facing hardships at around 9:30 a.m. on top of the hill.

“It’s one of our best turnouts,” Hussey said by phone Thursday, March 2. “The hills around here, they’re beautiful, nice and green. I wish they’d stay that way.

“It’s a good thing the hike wasn’t last weekend,” Hussey added, “else it would’ve been the Blue Mountain hike and ski.”
