A 2-year-old boy found drowning in a pool in the unincorporated county area near Fontana later died at a hospital Sunday night.
Authorities have not yet released his name and city of residence.
“The circumstances surrounding the incident are under investigation, however, preliminary information appears to show this incident was a tragic accident,” according to a statement from the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department. No one has been arrested.
Deputies headed to the 9000 block of Hemlock Avenue shortly after 7:30 p.m. Sunday after a 911 caller reported a 2-year-old relative was found drowning in a pool, the department statement said.
Deputies found the child not breathing and started CPR. Paramedics took the boy to a local hospital where he later died.
