2 women arrested after Fontana drugstore workers report them stealing thousands of dollars in merchandise – San Bernardino Sun

Two women believed to be involved in various thefts around the Inland Empire were caught stealing thousands of dollars worth of merchandise from a Fontana Rite Aid and taken into custody, police said Tuesday, April 19.

The incident took place Saturday, April 16, at the Rite Aid at 9940 Sierra Ave., according to San Bernardino County inmate logs. After being called by Rite Aid employees about the suspects allegedly concealing merchandise in their bags, responding police saw the suspects exiting the store with more than $3,500 worth of stolen property, the Fontana Police Department said in a statement.

After seeing the officers, the suspects ran back into the store, but then were detained by police, authorities said.

The two were arrested on suspicion of grand theft and conspiracy to commit a crime at 9:16 p.m., according to jail logs.

The suspects, ages 20 and 23, were on felony probation at the time of their arrest for burglary and theft in Los Angeles County, police said. The police statement said they confessed to similar crimes they had committed throughout the Inland Empire, however, no information on those alleged crimes was immediately available.
