2 ATV riders shot to death near Riverside intersection – San Bernardino Sun

Two people on an ATV near a Riverside intersection were shot to death on Sunday, Feb. 27, after a confrontation with the occupants of a car, the Police Department said.

Several people were detained but no arrests had been announced. The names of the victims had not been publicly released.

The shooting happened just after 2 p.m. in the area of Gould Street and Crest Avenue in the Arlanza neighborhood, just south of Norte Vista High.

The ATV riders crossed paths with the people in the car, said Officer Ryan Railsback, a department spokesman.

A police helicopter crew followed the car as it drove away before ground units pulled it over. As many as four people were detained, Railsback said.

It was unclear Monday what was said between the two parties or what the motivation was for the shooting, Railsback said. The gang unit is assisting in the investigation.

At the intersection, someone spray-painted “RIP” and “Love & Memory Truly Missed” on a wall, each tag referring to a particular name. Below, on Monday, a broken vodka bottle sat next to a cooler filled with candles with extinguished flames.
